Spelling words / Spelling list 2

Hola!!
Aquí esta el articulo que les prometí de las palabras del Spelling. Las palabras incluyen significado en español, significado en inglés y una oración de ejemplo. Se que algunas palabras no incluyen significado pero es solo debido a que son palabras que por decirlo de alguna manera son super obvias y de verdad que no necesitan que se las explique.

1.-amateur: Aficionado.
Person who is non-professional at an activity.
I am an amateur at chess.

2.- sanctuary: Santuario
A holy place or a place of refuge or safety.
We took shelter in the peaceful sanctuary. 


3.- legislator: Legislador.

A member of a legislative body.
The legislator lives at my building.

2.-favorite: Favorito

Chocolate is my favorite ice-cream flavor.


4.-tournament: Torneo.
Sofía right now is at a tornament.

5.-intercept: Detener.
Obstruct and prevent from continuing to a destination.

The police will intercept the robbers at Fifth Street


6.- endeavor: Esforzarse.
Try hard to do or achieve.
He said he would endeavor to get better grades.

7.. carburetor: Carburador.
A device in an internal-combustion engine for mixing air with a fine spray of liquid fuel.
My car´s carburetor is not working properly.

8.-coffee-maker: Cafetera.
My dadbought me a new coffee-maker.

9.-alligator: Caimán.
Last week we found an alligator at Sofia´s house.

10.-secretary: secretrario.
A person employed to assist with correspondence, keep records, etc.
The secretary from his office stole him some money.

11.-restaurant : Restaurante.
A place where people pay to sit and eat meals that are cooked and served on the premises. 
Last we went to an amazing restaurant.

12.- favorite: Favorito.
Blue is my favorite color.

13.- officer: Oficial.
 A person holding a position of authority, especially a member of the armed forces who holds a commission or a member of the police force.
She was arrested by an officer.

14.-picturesque: Pintoresco
Visually attractive in a quaint or charming manner.
We spent a lot of time at a picturesque apartment near the beach.

15.- alternate: Alternar.
Occur or do in turn repeatedly.
The sun and the moon alternates from morning to night or evening to dawn.

16.-persuade: Persuadir.
Provide a sound reason for someone to do something.
I will persuade Raul by giving him some food in that way he will do my homework.

17.- monastery: Monasterio.
A community of monks living under religious vows.
The beautiful hotel was once an old Franciscan monastery.

18.- computer: Computadora.
Yesterday I bought a brand new computer.

19.- fever: Fiebre.
Last week i got really sick and the worst thing that I was having a really high fever.

20.- generosity: Generosidad.
Your generosity will be remembered.
